Bertalan Székely

(born May 8, 1835 - died. August 21, 1 910) - Hungarian Romantic painter specializing in painting images of the militaristic and historical themes. Bertalan was born in 1835 in Cluj-Napoca. In 1855 he left the native Transylvania begi nning studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. After completing his studies in 1859 he moved to Munich where he met von Pilotiego Karal, a German painter who later had a major impact on the work Szekeliego.
